How to Edit and Customize Your Book Before You Order

Preview every page, reorder chapters, edit text, and design your cover before placing your final order.

You can review and edit every page of your book before placing your order. Reordering chapters, editing text, adjusting photos, and designing the cover are all done in the Storied story editor, and you are never required to change anything if the book already looks the way you want it.

Before you start

Make sure you are signed in to your account. Opening the editor from your dashboard takes you directly into Storied with no separate login needed. You can start editing at any point, even before your missionary's mission has ended, though some families wait until the full book is complete.

Steps

  1. Log in and open Preview Your Book from your dashboard.

  2. Look through the book chapter by chapter to get a feel for how it reads and flows.

  3. Reorder chapters if you want a different sequence than the default chronological order.

  4. Edit the text within any chapter to adjust wording, fix anything you want changed, or add extra detail.

  5. Crop, rearrange, or swap out photos within a chapter, and choose which two photos appear in print for that week. (For more on why only two photos print per chapter, see Why Do Only Two Photos Print in Each Chapter of My Missionary's Book?.)

  6. Design your cover, including the photo and title.

  7. Once everything looks the way you want, place your order.

What happens next

Your changes save automatically as you make them, so nothing is lost if you step away and come back later. Nothing gets sent to print until you actually place the order, so you can keep returning to the editor and making changes right up until then.

If it does not work

You cannot find the edit options, or the book looks locked to view-only. Make sure you are signed in with the correct account, since the editor only shows editing tools for projects tied to your login. If it still looks locked, contact support with your account email, and we can take a look.
