Getting Started

How to Get Your Missionary's Weekly Emails Added to Their Book

Share your missionary's unique project email address with them so every weekly email becomes a chapter automatically.

After you purchase and activate your book, you get a unique email address for your missionary, something like elder.smith.tokyo@mymissionarybook.com. Once your missionary adds that address to their weekly email list, every email they send automatically becomes a new chapter.

Before you start

You will need an active book project. If you haven't purchased or activated one yet, do that first, since your project's unique email address is generated during setup.

If you are managing more than one missionary, see [How to Add Another Missionary to Your Account] first, since each missionary needs their own separate project.

Steps

  1. Log in to your account and find your project's unique email address on your dashboard.

  2. Share that address with your missionary by email or Facebook Messenger, whichever reaches them fastest.

  3. Have your missionary add the address to their regular weekly email distribution list, the same list they already use to email friends and family.

  4. That's it. Your missionary keeps emailing exactly as they always have. No app, no new habit, no extra step on their end.

What happens next

Each email your missionary sends to that address is captured and turned into its own titled chapter, organized chronologically as it arrives. You will typically see a new chapter appear on your dashboard within a couple of minutes after your missionary sends the email. Photos attached to the email come along with it automatically. If your missionary tends to share photos through a Google Photos link instead, see How to Get Your Missionary's Photos Automatically Instead of Through a Link to help them switch to attaching directly.

If your missionary already started their mission before you set this up, you are not starting over. See How to Add Past Emails If Your Missionary Already Started Their Mission for the full steps.

If it does not work

A week goes by, and no new chapter appears. Double-check that the address your missionary is using matches your project's email address exactly, since a small typo will send the email nowhere. Also ask your missionary to check their Sent folder to confirm the email actually went out.

You are managing more than one missionary. Each missionary needs their own project and their own unique email address, so their books stay separate. You can add multiple missionary projects to a single account, each with its own dashboard, whether your missionaries are serving at the same time or years apart.
